On behalf of all of us here at One Link Mortgage & Financial, THANK YOU for your generous support of our recent team build for Habitat for Humanity Manitoba!
One Link Mortgage has a mission of helping people make their homeownership dreams a reality. Habitat for Humanity helps struggling families with affordable, life-changing homes. The cause is a perfect match for our company and we are so excited to have been a part of a project that supports our community in such a positive way.
On September 13th, twenty enthusiastic One Linkers gathered at 1860 Logan Avenue, a two-storey four-plex, to volunteer for the day. We were fortunate enough to meet one of the future owners of one of the units. Kahasse, who is originally from Eritrea, is here with his wife and two young daughters. Both he and his wife are accredited Health Care Aides and are very eager to finally settle in a home. The selection of families for Habitat for Humanity is based on three principles: need, ability to pay, and willingness to partner. As part of the process, each homeowner must agree to 500 hours of sweat equity prior to the possession of their new home. Watching Kahasse enthusiastically hammer in nails and seeing his excitement as he described the second floor layout was infectious and made those sore and tired muscles all the more worthwhile.
For our team, it was an amazing opportunity to not only meet Kahasse, but to also help him achieve his dream. Here is what a few of our One Link Mortgage team members had to say about the experience:
Caily (Coubrough) MacGregor: “What a great experience! Working alongside the future homeowner was really special and they were so thankful for our help.”
Alyssa LeBlanc: “Talking with Kahasse and seeing the joy on his face as he witnessed all of these people coming together from across the city as a community to help out, is one of the best things I have ever come across. The experience honestly exceeded my expectations!”
Brandy Meyers: “The experience building with Habitat for Humanity far exceeded my expectations. It was phenomenal to see how much could get accomplished by volunteers in one day with little to no experience. I would love to go back again and for anyone looking for a workout that can really make you feel good inside, I'd suggest volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.”
Thanks to our incredible team and their amazing supporters, we surpassed our fundraising goal and raised $5320.00 for Habitat for Humanity Manitoba! We had an amazing experience and are extremely grateful to have had this opportunity to help build homes for future homeowners!Did you know you can still help?
